At Kingsway Primary School, Mathematics helps children understand number, pattern, shape, and measure, supporting them to make sense of the world around them. Taught from Foundation Stage to Year Six, the subject develops confidence, fluency, and enjoyment in learning maths.

Through a structured White Rose Maths approach, learning is carefully sequenced into small steps, allowing children to build secure understanding over time. Pupils develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills through the use of concrete resources, pictorial representations, and abstract methods. Children are encouraged to explain their thinking, make connections, and apply their mathematical knowledge in a range of meaningful contexts.

Mathematics supports our Kingsway KIT values by promoting resilience, independence, and teamwork. By developing deep understanding and confidence in mathematics, children are prepared to tackle challenges, think logically, and use their learning effectively now and in the future.
