History

At Kingsway Primary School, History helps children understand the past and how it has shaped the world we live in today. Taught from Foundation Stage to Year Six, the subject encourages curiosity about people, events, and changes over time.

Through a topic-based approach, pupils develop key historical skills such as asking questions, using sources, and making comparisons. Children learn about significant individuals, events, and periods from local, British, and world history.

History supports our Kingsway KIT values by promoting curiosity, resilience, respect, and independence. By exploring the past, children gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives and develop the confidence to make sense of the present and the future.
