PE

At Kingsway Primary School, we highly value Physical Education and provide regular, high-quality PE and physical activity in line with the National Curriculum. Our PE curriculum promotes healthy, active lifestyles and supports pupils’ physical, mental and social well-being.

In Key Stage 1, children develop fundamental movement skills, agility, balance and coordination through a range of games, gymnastics and dance, building confidence and enjoyment in physical activity.

In Key Stage 2, pupils build on these foundations by refining skills, increasing strength, flexibility and endurance, and applying tactics, teamwork and problem-solving in a variety of competitive and non-competitive sports.

Across all key stages, PE supports the development of gross and fine motor skills, cooperation, leadership and resilience, while teaching children to participate fairly, show good sportsmanship and manage success and defeat with confidence. Our PE lessons are carefully sequenced to be inclusive, engaging and challenging, enabling all children to experience success and develop a lifelong love of physical activity.
