Computing

At Kingsway Primary School, our computing curriculum equips pupils to become confident, creative and responsible users of digital technology, fully aligned with the National Curriculum for Computing.

In Key Stage 1, children develop a foundational understanding of what algorithms are, how digital devices work, and how to create and debug simple programs, while learning to use technology safely and purposefully.

In Key Stage 2, pupils build on this knowledge by developing computational thinking skills such as logic, abstraction and data representation, writing and debugging programs to solve problems, and selecting and using a wide range of technologies to create, analyse and communicate information.

Across all key stages, computing is closely linked to mathematics, science and design and technology, helping pupils understand digital systems and apply skills across the curriculum.

Online safety is embedded throughout, ensuring pupils learn to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly, preparing them for future learning, the workplace and active participation in an increasingly digital world.
