Art and Design
At Kingsway Primary School, our art curriculum is ambitious and inclusive, enabling all pupils to develop creativity, imagination and confidence in line with the National Curriculum.
Through the teaching of drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques, pupils develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to express ideas, experiences and emotions using a range of materials and processes. Children are taught to use colour, texture, form and pattern purposefully, while learning about and responding to the work of artists, craft makers and designers from different times and cultures.
Art is meaningfully linked to other areas of the curriculum to deepen understanding, support core skills and provide real-life contexts for learning, ensuring pupils develop transferable skills, cultural awareness and a lifelong appreciation of creativity.
